Sharichan a Student from Jerusalem School, Speaks to Oprah Winfrey!!!

Dear Friends

I would just like introduce this little reference. I am very proud of the girl called Sharichan in the follwing article. Over a year ago Sharichan of Jerusalem School asked me as a teacher taht knew here to give her a reference for this educational peace program in the USA. I was more than happy to give her a reference because her character and attitudes deserved it. Now many months later I recieved this report from a friend of mine in the USA. Because it just so happened that Sharichan went to stay in the Sates with some Jewish friends of mine from Israel. How the Lord works in mysterious ways!

Seeds of Peace Seeds Address 11,000: Open for H.M. Queen Noor

Speaking in front of over 11,000 women, two Seeds graduates were given the honor of presenting Her Majesty Queen Noor of Jordan at the 18th Annual California Governor's Conference on Women and Families.

Sharihan, Palestinian and Malvina, Israeli, spoke to the influential audience, which included Maria Shriver, Jamie Lee Curtis, Oprah Winfrey, Sheryl Crow, Anne Sweeney of Disney, and Meg Whitman of e-Bay. The two Seeds spoke about their program credibility in the region

Remarks from Seeds of Peace Graduates Introduction of H.M. Queen Noor of Jordan California Governor's Conference on Women & Families December 7, 2004

Shari: Good afternoon, my name is Shari Abdel-Rahman

Malvina: And my name is Malvina Goldfeld. It might seem unusual that they've asked us, two young people, to share the stage with these important people and introduce a Queen. But it's even more unique when you consider that we>are doing it together, an Israeli and Palestinian side-by-side.

Shari: Malvina and I are both part of an important organization called Seeds>of Peace, an organization that Her Majesty Queen Noor of Jordan has tirelessly supported. The organization was started after the first World>Trade Center bombing in 1993. Its mission is simple: to empower future leaders from conflict regions, chosen by their governments, to breakdown stereotypes and mistrust and eventually end our respective conflicts. We>start off at a summer camp in Maine, and then participate in year-round follow-up programs for up to ten years—programs like ongoing dialogue>sessions, advanced mediation and negotiation seminars, media internships and even programs for our parents and friends.>>I attended the program for the first time this summer, and it changed my life. For the first time, I heard the story from my so-called enemy—not from a parent, teacher, religious figure, politician, or journalist, but from a>teenager just like me. After thinking about the theme of this conference, I realized that my fellow "Seeds" and I are also architects for change—a change no one has accomplished before us: peace in the Middle East. We are determined to make it happen.

Malvina:
It is a special pleasure to be here today to share in a conference that is about women as architects for change, and in particular, to introduce the next speaker who has inspired us as women who find ourselves on the>frontlines in the battle for peace.

I am quite familiar with Her Majesty Queen Noor's distinguished career…In fact, some might accuse me of following her career path exactly:

· Her Majesty first got involved with Seeds of Peace in 1994—I participate for the first time a year late· Her Majesty is the President of United World Colleges, which I attended>between 1998 and 2000
Her Majesty did her undergraduate studies at Princeton, where I currently>attend school

So I guess it's only fair of you to ask when my memoirs are coming out and will land on the New York Times' bestseller like Her Majesty's>autobiography, Leap of Faith. But seriously, Her Majesty has few peers when it comes to her record of>humanitarian activism and advocacy for world peace and justice. Since 1978, she has led efforts in Jordan to address specific national development needs, in areas like education, culture, welfare, the environment and human>rights. She truly has a global reach, as her involvement with numerous>international organizations like Women Waging Peace, the International Campaign to Ban Landmines, Refugees International, and Conservation>International all attest. She is also an expert advisor to the United Nations on global peace-building and conflict resolution. Yet, we are most pleased that Her Majesty has been one of Seeds of Peace's most ardent supporters. A member of the Honorary Advisory Board, she has been heavily involved with programming, development, and media advocacy on>behalf of our organization. Her Majesty's greatest impact has been on the Seeds of Peace graduates>themselves. She is responsible for Jordan's initial participation in the program and has also been involved in every major Seeds of Peace

International Youth Conference, sharing her insight and perspective with participants.

Shari: Seeds of Peace enjoys the support of many world leaders, but few have had>the wide-ranging impact that Her Majesty has had on the program. Quite simply, the organization would not be where it is today without her tremendous support and involvement.>>She has been a true architect for change and peace, and what she has built in the 3,000 Seeds of Peace graduates is a solid foundation for a different>future in the Middle East and other areas of conflict around the world. It is our distinct pleasure and honor to introduce Her Majesty Queen Noor.
